Deterrence Deterrence--Measures taken to prevent hostile action. Deterrent--Something that ‘deters’. Sample ‘Deterrents’--Weapon--Gun--Knife--Animals--Dogs, Etc.-- Alarm /Monitor System. All work because they cause the perpetrator to stop & think about the consequences of executing the crime. Weapons are considered ‘Most Effective’; however, they also present the potentioa of added danger. Animals offer both an ‘Alert/Alarm’, and in many cases, actually stop or prevent the crime...not everyone; however, owns a good watch dog. If everyone was ‘Alarmed’, any potential criminal would surely think twice before acting. (Homeowners with alarm systems, as well as car alarm owners are aware of this fact.) Unfortunately, everyone cannot afford an alarm system. The ‘Shriek Personal Alarm’ offers the real possibility for not only ‘Alarming’ each household, but also offers community wide deterrence, when the media is informed that the city and local law enforcement are providing and/or encouraging every household to have at least one personal alarm.
